Barbara O'Niell has a few quite retreats in Australia, and she gives lectures on how to cure anything from an ingrown toenail to cancer naturally.

I thought you might want to check out what she has to say about depression. Yes, diet is part of the cure. For those who follow her instructions to the T, I would say there's a 100% cure rate.

These are some notes I took on her lecture on depression and the video you may get some ideas from.

Depression, Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis . . .

Part 17- Safeguarding against depression notes;

Depression is not a cause. It's an effect. It's an imbalance in the brain.


Too many highs and lows from;

Hybridized wheat

She mentions "Sugar Blues," "Caffeine Blues," and "Grain Brain."

The highs are brief, and the lows are very long. The lows are depression.

MSG damages the nerve cells.

Other imbalances in the brain are

Lack of;


Oxygen - cells have 18 times the energy with oxygen.
Quit cigarettes and exercise.

Sunshine - helps serotonin.

Fat - Omega-3 - walnuts, fresh ground flax seed, chia seed (these 3 are also an important part of getting your serotonin).
Saturated fat - coconut oil is best - the brain cells membrane is 70% fat. (Fat free diets may be the reasons for the increase in mental diseases and Alzheimer's/Dementia spiking, and 50% of Australians are suffering from some form of mental illness)

Healing fats;
Coconut oil
Olive oil

For Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's and Multiple sclerosis

You can supplement with coconut oil for healing. It's very high in medium chain fatty acid (MCFA).
The liver converts MCFA into ketones. Ketones are neuro-healers and protectors. Dr Bruce Fife calls it the coconut oil ketogenic diet in his books, or modified Atkins diet, dropping the carbohydrates and getting plenty of the healthy fibers, proteins, oils, nuts and seeds. She said start with a teaspoon of coconut oil 3x a day and build up to 3 tablespoons a day.

Dr Fife tells how people have turned their Alzheimer's around on this diet.

The brain loves the ketones created through the liver from saturated fats like coconut oil.

She said the diet books miss the point on calories, as the high calories in fat are energy. The brain loves fat because fat provides twice the energy of glucose. Just don't give the body more calories than it needs.

Fats don't make you fat. The fats that are dangerous are the altered ones like margarines. The FDA check doesn't mean it's good for you.

The two fats that are best are the coconut oil and the Omega-3 to increase the magnetic field from cell to cell.

Lack of sleep,

When we sleep between the hours of 9 to 2, we get a release of serotonin.

Lack of water,

Our brains are hydro-electromagnetic systems - no hydro, no electricity.

Lack of minerals,

Calcium and magnesium are important to the brain. The lack of calcium and magnesium inhibits the messages from cell to cell.

Caffeine not only causes a chemical imbalance in the brain, also leaches calcium and magnesium out of the body.

Lack of vitamins,

B vitamins are brain vitamins. 1% of psychiatrist treat their patients with nutrition, B3, niacin, up to 10,000 mg, 10 g, till the situation is brought into control.

She said no one had ever died from a vitamin overdose. If they had, it would have been all over the news.

She tells of her daughter's friend taking her baby to the doctor and getting put on antibiotics, and died a few hours later. She said you never hear of that, huh?

Lack of progesterone,

The pill earlier in life, chemicals and exposure to soft plastics cause estrogen to rise, causing depression.

Anna's Wild Yam Cream will little by little boost the progesterone. She said in an earlier lecture a red clover supplement and organic soy supplements, but I'd be very careful that we could trust the soy to be organic.

Implement the 8 laws of health and eventually get off the antidepressants.

You don't 'Get' depression. It's most often imbalanced hormones.

What else can cause an imbalance,



What's causing it?

Try these;
Ginger poultice
High dose turmeric
Osteopath or chiropractor
We have to investigate why the pain is there.


Too much and too often irritates the stomach, the digestive system and the nerves.

The digestive system needs a break, 4 to 5 hours between eating.

Excess stimulation,

We should allow ourselves times of peace.

Eye stimulation is brain stimulation. The TV, the laptop, the phone or the games are always on. We have to be continuously entertained.

The brain is stimulated by all this, and when it stops, the brain goes into depression.

We need to limit our technology time, and especially when nearing time for sleep.


What poisons the brain?

Mercury, alcohol, drugs, MSG and chemicals.

Be very careful as to what we are watching, because it has an effect on the brain.

Being always negative, the little thorns grow in between the dendrites.

Watching negativity, listening to negativity and allowing our brains to think negatively.

"We don't choose what happens to us, but we choose what we do with it."

"If you say it's great, it will be. If you say it's terrible, it will be."

Cognitive behavioral therapy is the perfect way to improve insomnia.

She says the best medicine is laughter, rewire your brain to laugh when things go wrong.

Genetics or tragedy cannot cause depression, but throw in the unhealthy foods, chemicals, excesses, poisons and lack of sleep, and the scales are tipped.

We have no say over tragedy and genetics, but we have say over what we do.

Drink pure water
Go to bed early
Plant based diet with good healthy fats and good salts.

She says she doesn't tell anyone to stop their medications straight away except the blood thinners and statin drugs, they can be stopped without ramifications.

Antidepressants and medications for the mind has to be eased off while following these guidelines and you start to feel better.

Depression and Alzheimer's can be prevented and conquered.

She offers a quote from "The Ministry of Healing," "The only hope of better things is the education of people in the right principals. Let the physicians teach the people that restorative power lies not in drugs, but in Nature."

"Disease is an effort of Nature to free the system from conditions that arise because of a violation of the basic laws of health. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained, unhealthful conditions changed, wrong habits corrected, then Nature is to be assisted in her efforts to dispel impurities and reestablish right conditions back in the system."

Sun light
Proper diet
Trust in a divine power

These are the true remedies.
